Hello everyone! Today, (Sunday, May 3, 2015) my instructor Bob and I flew to get me to do my first landings! This is my 5th flight with Fischer. We did 9 in total, 3 of which I did completely by myself. We took off and landed on runway 22, (My first time taking off from this runway) and went through the traffic pattern doing touch and go’s for about an hour, and then landed. I found it easier than I thought it would be to fly the pattern, but I was drifting towards the runway on downwind my first few times, before I got the hang of it. Landings, however, were a different story. I thought they would be easier than they were, and after our first hard landing, I was really thinking hard about getting everything perfect so that it would not happen again, and it got easier and easier after that. I learned that if you make a slight error early on, like being a little fast when you are on downwind abeam the numbers, that you will pay for it by being a little fast during the flare, which makes you float longer than you want to. So we did this a few times, going through the moves to the point where I knew what to do, more or less, for the entire circuit, and then we made a full stop and called it a day (Time really does fly when you are having fun!). Anyways, thank you for reading, and hopefully you will come across another one of my posts next time I fly, which is once a month!
