On Sunday June 8, 2014 Carl Mc Bratney surprised Janine Rogers with a helicopter ride around Manhattan with Pilot Jim Miller, owner of NJ Chopper in his Bell Jet Ranger N41SJ. Jim operates out of Essex County Caldwell Airport KCDW) . I also asked a few friends along for the ride.
We departed approx. 6:30 local time with a plan of flying the Hudson North towards the George Washington Bridge then turning south and flying the rivers edge to the Statue Of Liberty ,then across Staten Island hoping to fly over Janine’s parents home. The flight went as planned with the setting sun ‘s reflection beautifully accenting the greatest city in the world .
Jim Miller made the girls feel comfortable with his quick wit and his professional approach to flying. I enjoyed the conversation in the cockpit with Jim and studied his communication skills while he carefully navigated the airspace surrounding NYC.
Jim was recommended by Tom Fischer of Fischer Aviation located at Caldwell airport ,I’ve been flying with Tom for the past year and I highly recommend him and his flight school. Tom also is very familiar to the Hudson Skyline Route and accompanies pilots and students that want to fly the Hudson safely. You can reach Jim Miller at 201-739-5901 or NJchopper.com I highly recommend Jim, and his chopper is first class Thanks Jim!! You can also contact Tom Fischer at Learn to fly @ Fischeraviation.com .
I don’t care how many times you fly around Manhattan It never gets old. This is truly the greatest city in the world! So get a few friends together and discover flying ,it will change your life forever!! GOD bless America , GOD bless The FDNY
